experiments and scientific concepts improve scientific understanding and
develop higher – order thinking skills. It is also possible to demonstrate
experiments and environments that would not be otherwise possible, e.g. the model of an atom , or the functioning of
a nervous system .
(4) Prediction: Compiled and processed data
can be used to predict possible outcomes, such as weather forecasting in
meterology.
(5) Collecting scientific information :
Scientific information from peers and experts can be collected using the

Answer:
Successive stages of evolution of digital
computers are called computer generations. Each by remarkable generation is
characterized improvements in technology, internal organizations and
programming languages over the previous generation.
(1) Technology changed from vacuum tubes
(first generation) to transistors ( second generation ) to ICS ( third
generation ) to microprocessors ( fourth generation onwards ) . Parallel
processing and networking characterize the present generation.
(2) Size and cost of the computers reduced
drastically from the huge hall – sized computers of the first generation to
mini – computers (third generation) to personal computers (fourth generation
onwards) . Reliability, energy efficiency and calculation speed greatly
improved with each generation .
(3) Memory devices evolved and improved in
size , capacity and speed , from magnetic drum memory (first generation)
magnetic core memory (second generation ) to semiconductor memories (third
generation onwards) .
(4) Programs for the first generation
computers were in machine language of 0’s and 1’s and assembly language later.
User – friendly high – level programming languages were introduced in the
second generation, and Operating system in the third generation.
(5) In the first two generations, input and
output were based on punched cards and tapes. Keyboard and monitor were
introduced in the third generation. Graphical user interfaces (GUI) and the
mouse were developed during the fourth generation.
(6) ARPANET (which grew into today’s
Internet) began at the end of the third generation. Local area networking (LAN)
technology was developed in the fourth generation.
(7) Contribution of science: Advances in
science and technology contributed to the technological developments of (i)
computer hardware such as valves , transistors , ICs , microprocessors and
memory devices ( ii ) networking technology and devices.

using a computer are as follows:
(1) Computer got switched off due to sudden
power outage/fluctuations and much of the current work of loas.
Remedy:
(1)Working files were saved frequently.
(2) The power supply to the computer was given through an UPS which allowed sufficient time to save the files in case of power outage.
(2) Difficulty in downloading pictures from the internet due to low connectivity.
Remedy:
Searched and downloaded pictures of lower
resolution and smaller file size.
